There are few ways from Noi Bai airport to City Center and here are some tips that help you have a better idea for your travel plan.

By Shuttle Bus

With only 2USD you can take the bus at Noi Bai Airport to get in to Old Quarter. Here is the bus number that you should remember.

#07 and #17: These two are the public buses that stop at Noi Bai Airport, the most important gateway in the North of Vietnam. The #7 bus will cross the Thang Long Bridge and head to Cau Giay. The #17 buses go to the Old Quarter via Chuong Duong Bridge.

#86: Hanoi Transport Corporation operates the Bus Route. It runs from the Hanoi Railway Station to the Noi Bai Airport. Tickets cost 30,000 VND (USD1.30) each way and trips take almost an hour.

Notice: The problem you might encounter while get on a bus is that it is very crowded at peak hours. You should always keep one hand to cover your purses. Place your backpack at the front, since crowded bus in Vietnam is an ideal place for pickpockets.

Futhermore, as the bus approaches your intended destination, try your best to make the way to the back door, take a deep breath and prepare for a fast move because bus drivers in Hanoi are notorious for stopping at a stop for a very short time. You will need to be prepared to get out of the bus as fast as you can if you don’t want to miss the point. If you are unsure when to get off, ask either the driver, the ticket collector or the fellow passengers.  As intimidating as it sounds, travelling by bus in Hanoi is a truly local experience.

By meter taxi:

Airport taxi doesn’t use Taxi meter, because from Noi Bai airport to Hanoi taxi’s fee is flat fee. After you go out from airport gate, you can see Taxi stop in front of you. There is signboard which is wrote down Taxi fee hence you should check before ride on Taxi.

It is about 30 minutes to Hanoi city to arrive and around 1 hour if you want to go to old town.

From Noi Bai International Airport to Hanoi Old Quarter, the price is about $17 – $20 (370.000VND – 470.000VND. The price will change depend on the 4 seaters or 7 seaters taxi.

By Private car of the Hotel or travel Agency.

If you have booked the hotel or tour in advance. You can arrange the airport transfer directly with your hotel or your travel agency. Cost for the clean and good air-condition private car is from $18 – $35 (depending on the number the seat and the brand name of the car). This is certainly be the best option for you to avoid the scam taxi and being over charged.
